Vote Yes for the Astoria Library Bond!

Invest in A Library for All

This November we have an opportunity to continue to invest in our beloved local library!

The Astoria Public Library works hard to serve all members of our community! Our library provides the gift of literacy and reading to Astoria - and now we can help address its most critical needs by voting YES for the Astoria Library Bond. At just cents per thousand, or less than $10 a month, this is an affordable, smart and necessary investment in a critical community resource!

Improve Accessibility

Much of the library is inaccessible for users with disabilities. This bond will double the usable space of the library and will add an elevator to make all floors accessible. In addition, this bond will allow the library to upgrade bathrooms, add an exterior ramp, and widen aisles.

Repair Aging Buildings

This bond will allow the Astoria Public Library to make critical repairs including addressing inefficient windows and upgrades to electrical, roofing, flooring, lighting, plumbing, and HVAC systems. With these repairs, our community’s library will be able to serve future generations for decades to come.

Expand Children’s Space & Programming

Our library lacks space for our community’s youngest learners to access literacy programs. This bond will build a larger, designated area for children’s programming, literacy and learning opportunities.

Update Technology

Our library was constructed in 1967 and needs updates to meet the demands of modern technology. This bond will help the library install modern wiring and technology throughout the entire facility.

Make Use of Our Existing Library

The remodel will make available expansive unused space while retaining current structure and footprint. This will result in significant cost savings over building something new!

Please join us in voting YES for our community and YES on Measure 4-220.

WHAT WOULD IT COST?

In a time of rising costs, this Bond is an excellent value.

The bond would cost just 57 cents per $1,000 of assessed tax value. The result means supporting all community members in their pursuit of information, literacy, and learning – and creating a stronger future for our entire community.
